Oh! I do love this street - I read the book "Almost French" by Sarah Turnbull and quite a bit of her life in Paris was set in and around Rue Montorgueil - Love the cafe! love the atmosphere! - you have captured the essence of it well!
Genie, if you liked the moules frites,...not that I want to sound chauvinistic.... you just HAVE to come to Brussels next time you are on this side of the ocean -:) . Of course, I also love the French onces.. and I agree with the abundance of choice in streets like this one.
They can hardly eat for people watching. All it takes is one person to stare at something and then,one-by-one they all look to see what's going on. A great place to eat, share a bottle of wine, and observe passersby.
Hi Genie, I like that everyone is very interested in something across the way, but that man in the foreground is only interested in his meal, must be something delicious!! Really makes you wish you were there. Best wishes Grace
"L'embarras de choix" is a problem I'd be willing to deal with—but not really such a problem if one of those many choices is yummy moules-frites! Sounds much better than the boring salad I'm eating at my desk right now. :~}
Gee, several others recognize this street, but I don't. (I am mainly a rive gauche kind of guy.) But I am willing to have a knowledgeable hostess lead me here . . .
I think that there was a French girl walking down the street at the time - haha! The place was delicious and delightful with great waiters. Hana, please have some moules-frites in my honor. Jack, alons-y! We have a bevy of hostesses ready to lead you around!
This was an exciting place (where I found the animal-shoes on French girl and almost fell into a plate!) The place across the street is Bianco where I snapped an orange (bright orange) Christmas tree one December.
You will never go hungry on this street! Bisous, Genie
Bon appétit !
ReplyDeleteJ'aime l'ambiance de ces brasseries...
Bonne journée,
Pierre
Oh, that's the "problem" I want to have! It looks fun to eat there.
ReplyDeleteGreat scene. You've captured it perfectly!

I've had moules-frites in Brussels but never in Paris probably because there is too many choices. :)
ReplyDeleteI just caught up on all of your wonderful posts. I bet it won't be the last time I see them.
What a wonderful problem to have. I wish US streets had too many choices!

C'est Paris.
Yummm! I think one of the best parts of Paris is all the outdoor cafe's!!!
ReplyDeleteAll I would want is bread, cheese and wine. Ok maybe some fruit.
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe just a little bit more wine...sil vous plait!!!
ReplyDeleteWe ate 2 or 3 times at the same restuarant. A great street :)@robertoaust
ReplyDeleteLove this. It so perfectly captures the ambience or is it ambiance - I'm too lazy to look it up. Depends on the language probably. xxx
