Les Macarons
This unique design of macarons was seen in the side window of Printemps on Rue de Caumartin. The competition must be fierce in Paris for the macaron market share but these would not measure up to my quality-control standards. What do you think, Holly?PrintempsRue de Caumartin

They look so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWould you believe, I've never ever had one :(
B
So ... what then are YOUR standards. I understand that you and Holly have a 'measure'. Tell us ...
ReplyDeleteYummy love these!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
xo
I haven't seen photos of patterned ones before, Genie. Knowing your in-depth acquaintance with the art of crafting macarons, I trust your judgment without question.
ReplyDeleteWhat? What is wrong with them? Admittedly, I have not earned my certificate in macaron judging yet, but these look good to me . . .
ReplyDeleteMmmm, they look very nice and tasts well
ReplyDeleteOh my, they look scrumptious. My daughter has a love affair with macarons, when we were in Paris last year we went to Angelina's on Rue de Rivoli AND Laduree in search of perfection. We found it!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Grace
These look beautiful and delicious.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving viewing your new Paris photographs.......merci!
Enjoy your weekend Genie! xx
Well, let's if a little macaroon perfection has rubbed off on me ... The tops & bottoms are misaligned, the filling is not spread all the way to the edges ( it looks like they just dolopped it on), and the edges are uneven. However, the dots are cute and unique! I am willing to continue seeking perfection and tasting many along the way!!!
ReplyDeleteMacarons are probably my favorite cookie ever, hands down. Are they as expensive in Paris as they are in the US?
ReplyDeleteYep, I've had a few of Genie's divine macarons and I was going to venture the same opinion as M. The tops and bottoms are not uniform. Not sure about the filling. I'd like to try a pink one and maybe one of those that might be caramel though! :)
ReplyDeleteMacarons have always been a favorite of mine. Mom and I could eat them forever.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Did you taste one? They look good to me!
ReplyDeleteI have featured you today on my blog: http://www.classiccasualhome.com/2011/05/parisian-chic-and-important-blog-tip.html
Did you taste them?
ReplyDeleteAhhh...I've come to learn (from you and Virginia) that Paris photos are not complete if there are not photos of the requisite macarons!!! I do hope you had a few!!!
ReplyDeleteThey look delicious! The spots are out of the ordinary. I would take one of each colour and flavour!!
ReplyDeleteUmm! ceci n'est pas un macaron!! but it's all in the flavour Genie - maybe we need to go back to Paris and do a tate test - only one of each of course! un pistache, un beurre brulé un framboise......
ReplyDeleteI have never had one but if I were there I would have to try them all hee hee.
ReplyDeletePierre -- Merci et bon weekend à toi!
ReplyDeletemegi -- C'est vrai! Merci
B -- You must try one but make sure that it is a good one (one of these certainly will taste good in spite of my critique)
Julie -- More on that another day... Most of the expensive ones in Paris do pass the taste test overall but there must be along with other things a perfect balance of cookie and filling
Regina -- Oh, I do love the macarons! Bon weekend to you also!
Shell -- I do not have a problem with the design here and I bet that these are quite tasty
Jack -- I will have to do a macaron post with all of the criteria
biebkriebels -- Miam-miam!
Grace -- It is fun to gather several and to perform comparisons between sources and flavors
Ruby -- Delicious for sure! So glad that you like the photos!
Marie -- You have it correct, mon amie!
What Shell said, and may I please have one—NOW?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Genie—miam!
Just had breakfast, but makes me hungry nevertheless
ReplyDeleteNot sure that a macaron should be termed a 'cookie' ...
ReplyDeleteLiz -- The prices vary, but the very good ones are with our exchange rate in the range of $5, although you can buy them for as little as 1€ (a small one)
ReplyDeleteVirginia -- Merci, mon amie... more macarons for you!
Birdman -- I do love them but when you make them and know that you "could" eat as many as you want it is easier to stop at one. One is quite filling
MA -- We did not as this was early, before the store opened. I would like to know if the colors indicate different flavors (on the same macaron) or is the contrast achieved with coloring. I think that the brown on the yellow ones are definitely chocolate -- I have just discovered the feature -- MERCI!
Starman -- Not these but Marie and I did put a dent in the macarons of Paris on this trip, and at least one of every pâtisserie sample included "caramel" for Alexa!
Chieftess -- Not these but we ate our last ones on the RER to the airport (6am on departure day)!
Vreni -- You will have a chance to taste them all very soon!
Dianne -- Oh, I agree, but we should probably taste one of each on your list from "every" pâtisserie we see!
Randy -- It is a bit like that potato chip commercial from many years ago... "bet you can't eat just one!"
Alexa -- Yes, you may! We ate many caramel au beurre salé macarons for you!
Rob and Mandy -- I have eaten them at all times of day when in Paris although at home I would only eat one as a dessert or in lieu of a meal - hah!
Julie -- Actually the shells are considered a cookie although the macaron itself.... à mon avis, a delicacy!
