Dansez-vous?

A few weeks ago just after dark, Marie, Peter and I were walking back toward the apartment along Rue St. Honoré and saw this window display at Chantal Thomass. The creativity of the "window artists" never ceases to amaze me in Paris. Here we have a salute to ballet with an authentic ballet barre, tutu, and pointe shoes (Repetto, bien sûr)... all with the promises of luxurious lingerie. Nothing naughty, just elegant French lingerie.

Would you buy these?*

Chantal Thomass
211, rue St. Honoré

*Would you get the parasol too? hehehe

  1. Genie, what is that down there, below the beautifully dangled bra strap? It looks like a leg with a tattoo down its shin!

It simply must be a reflection. There is nothing in the window display to attach this figment to!

But of what is it a reflection?

Now to your question? Would I buy the lingerie? I have a sneaking suspicion that it would be beyond my price bracket. But I would not use that as my reason to decline. I would simply that that the underwear would be too 'scratchy' for my delicate skin!

  5. Hi Genie,
My daughter would definitely. When we were in Paris last year we spent many hours in Galleries Lafayette looking at lingerie.

    Best wishes

  13. The parasol, most definitely, would be a glorious object to own. My daughter would love if I came home with the barre (and the underwear, too).

  14. When l saw this I wondered if dancing Ballet provides you lovely, lacy lingerie ... What does doing Yoga give you??
It was a tempting display but I would rather use my € for other things.

  21. Mysterious and I must add a bit naughty.

  22. The parasol would definitely be my first choice! In the '60's there would not have been a need for that lingerie!!

  28. Julie -- Oh that is a lace-embellished stocking... no tattoos for this ballerina! It is expensive but made with lovely materials.

JB -- Just as well, my friend...

Suzi -- You will have to check out this window for sure... I imagine that it will not change until mid-summer

Bergson -- Ces vêtements-ci... ils ne sont pas ta taille, mais peut-être il y'a des autres?

Grace -- I would love to have a large budget for a suitcase full!

Richard -- Je crois que tu as raison... seulement à Paris.

biebkriebels -- I love how they have suspended the Repettos...

Sam -- Okay, he IS a keeper, my friend! (but you already knew that)

Joe -- You had better bring many francs!

  29. Anni -- I love Vicki's blog and I have her books

Carol -- Oh yes, you would wear them! They're French!

AA -- But those are the people that count, the primary being "you"

brattcat -- I have that same mother/daughter thing going with my girls

Marie -- Even better I would think. Yes, these and all the Paris lingerie is expensive (and with our exchange rate)

Alexandra -- You would truly enjoy some of the windows we have found and could write stories about them

Ninny -- Well then, missy, you have a very nice closet indeed! Hi to Tootie!

Virginia -- You are a mess, my friend. Try to stay out of trouble

    Halcyon -- Meeee too!

Loree -- I totally agree with your choices

Alexa -- I think you are right on the "Euros to burn" -- Me? What do you think... in a heartbeat!

Birdman -- We are both showing some lacy things today aren't we!

Kate -- You are so right and very funny... Let's definitely get that parapluie!

Oakland -- I have found that to be true and it makes up for not having the Euros to splurge. The windows are so creative and tell such stories.

Chieftess -- Awww, come on now... sure you would

Jeanne -- Yes, and I wonder why the right leg is different. Hummmm...

Marie-Noyale -- I am so glad that you like it and that you took time to make a comment. I hope that you will come back often! Yes, that Bergson is quite witty today!

    Starman -- Merci, mon ami!

Jack -- Perhaps not your size but we can special order for you and Bergson... I'll bring the camera - hah!
