The elegance of over 4,000 stained glass windows at Chartres Cathedralseems appropriate for today, Easter Sunday. This is the St. Stephen Chapel of Martyrs, a story told in the panes of the windows.
Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres Chartres, France
Ton image est merveilleusement bien choisie, pour ce jour de Pâques, Genie. Ces vitraux sont sublimes. Joyeuses Pâques à toi et à tous ceux que tu aimes!
Which brings me to a discussion of the equivalence, if any, between elegance and beauty. But we shall leave that for another day, Genie.
I shall have to make the journey to Chatres on my next trip to Paris. I want to return to Versailles, too. But to see the gardens where I can wander where the clouds take me.
I hope you have recovered from your jet lag, but hey, seven hours! Pffftttt ... only seven hours.
I have posed a question on Virginia's blog just now. I would welcome your joining in the discussion, too.
These windows are wonderful, Genie. They seem to be made from very small glass pieces. You ventured out of Paris? The next thing we know, you will be visiting Florence and Venice.
Happ Easter Genie. And please visit one of those wonderul chocolateries in Paris for me. I remember they were full of chocolate and whimsy for Easter when we visited 2 years ago.
Richard -- À mon avis, c'est parfait pour ce jour de Pâques comme tu a dis... merci!
Julie -- Having read The Elegance of the Hedgehog, I think that I understand what you mean. I find elegance on every turn in some of the most ordinary things, as do you, I believe.
Ruby -- I am so glad that we went... a great day spent in this charming ville.
Hana -- Merci, and I have seen the beautiful windows in your city, too!
Marie -- So glad that we took that train to Chartres. Joyeuse Pâques à toi aussi.
V -- Merci!
Malyss -- I want to hear about the weekend's adventure!
Birdman -- ...and to you, Mr. Bird, also.
SQR -- Thank you for your comment and happy Easter to you, too
Jack -- Me? Venture out of Paris? Well, it was only 50 miles!
Randy -- Can you imagine that there are 4,000 windows like this?
jenny -- The church is being cleaned and restored... the windows will soon sparkle!
Rob -- Joyeuses Pâques à vous!
Starman -- Merci, mon ami
Loree -- The windows of the pâtisseries and chocolateries were full of Easter delights! I am back home now and trying to resist the Whooper Robin Eggs today - hah!
Belgium -- and to you, mon amie!
Jojo -- The church had visions for the eyes at every turn... glad that you like this one!
Joe -- You are right... each pane tells a story and they all fit together. We met a man who has studied this church for over 50 years to discover its secrets
Une très belle photo pour illustrer Pâques avec ces vitraux qui font jaillir la lumière dans nos yeux et dans nos coeurs... je vous souhaite un bon lundi pascal et vous envoie plein de bisous.
Perth -- I am so glad that you have found me... best wishes to you on your daily blogging!
Cildemer -- The colors are as rich as royalty and look like a million little jewels... merci!
Paula -- I have wanted to visit this church for a long time and it was worth the short train ride to get there... I have photos from two other churches in Chartres for later posts
Alexa -- Merci... and I hope that your Easter has been wonderful as well!
Gorgeous capture and certainly a perfect one for the day! A very Happy Easter to you, Genie!
