The churches of Paris gather for the Fête de l'Immaculée Conception every December 8th at Saint-Nicolas du Chardonnet. Each of the participating churches brings its banner to be carried by its members. After Mass the families and persons of all ages light the candles and sing while walking through the streets of the 5ième, traffic stopped.
What an amazing experience...
Bon dimanche, mes amis.
All wonderful shots Genie - Paris is definitely calling me!
ReplyDeleteWhat an experience! I would love to be there for this someday and march along with my candle. Thank you for brinigng this tres Francais tradition to us. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteOh I'd love to see that! Thanks for sharing these lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteBon dimanche à toi. It's blowing up a storm here. Hope it's nicer in Mobile!
That is indeed an inspiring tradition — especially walking through the streets with candles. An interesting testimony.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pictures, and the story.
How interesting! I did not know about that tradition!

What a wonderful "neighborhood-y" tradition this is. So glad you caught it—and shared it! Bon dimanche a toi aussi.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking at all your pictures. You have some great shots – I like the one of the Tuileries under the snow. I heard it is very cold and snowy in Paris already. Here, the snow started to fall 15 minutes ago, but it stopped already. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteBonne soirée de dimanche Genie :)

How lovely! I, too, would love to take part in this.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to have found your blog via your comment on Petrea's blog!
Bon dimanche!
Cute ritual.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of going in December! This year because of the snow they didn't take the big statue - just a much smaller one - and as the roads were still very much covered in snow & ice...a smart idea! Missed you bunches!
ReplyDeleteHow amazing! I love the spirituality of Christmas! XX!
ReplyDeleteGenie, you captured this so beautifully. I would have loved to have seen this.
ReplyDeleteThat looks amazing! I would love to see this myself.
