This is a simple display of macarons with a hand-lettered sign to offer the day's flavors. Some of the larger pâtisseries produce machine-made perfectly uniform macarons, and only an expert or a researcher would know. But, when you see macarons of varying sizes, you know that they were individually made, tops and bottoms matched for size, fillings piped by hand. These look delicious and I need to remember that when I am in Paris, I should never pass up a macaron or two (or maybe three)!
You can see the reflections of the people outside with their noses on the window. Does one of them have a camera?
Check out other reflections at James' Newtown Daily Photo
I'll take the passion fruit! :-) Very cool colours.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh praline, now that's right up our southern alley, Genie. I think you and Holly need to add that flavor to your repetoire!! miam miam!
ReplyDeleteV
PS Thanks for the nice link on my photo yesterday.
Genie, you are funny! I can see the gourmande with the camera and her tongue sticking out. (The fig macaron is catching my eye).
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful vibrant colors!
ReplyDeleteMy apologies. For the past month and a half, my computer has been acting up and crashing. I've lost much of my emails, correspondence and contacts, worse yet was loosing 4 gigs of photos. Long story short, I have a new PC and am in the process of searching to replace all my bookmarks.
Caramel beurre sale~ would definitely fit the bill for me!
ReplyDeleteWhat? No coconut? Okay, I'll have to make do with chocolate....
ReplyDeleteOh la la, Genie—figue, pistache, and especially caramel beurre salé?!? And all made by hand? I just hope I can finish this comment before I pass out from the anticipation . . .
ReplyDeleteJM -- Good selection with the passion fruit. I wonder the flavor of the filling as I have never had one here.
ReplyDeleteVirginia -- The praliné is often made as a basic almond or hazelnut macaron with the praliné on the surface and incorporated in the filling. Holly and I have pecan macarons with caramel au beurre salé. miam-miam!
Rob -- I am crying with you over the loss of your photos. Hope that your computer troubles are over.
Dianne -- Come on over and we'll get a dozen!
Bibi -- I know that coconut macarons are made but cannot remember which pâtisserie. The chocolate ones are a good back-up.
Alexa -- I know how you feel as I can hardly say the flavors without my mouth watering in anticipation!
Nadedge -- I think that the fig would be delish. We should have gone in and bought several for tasting. My new rule in Paris is "never pass up a macaron whether you are hungry or not." It can be eaten in the name of "research." Hah! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'll take a dozen of each! I can't decide which is more appealing the color or the idea of the flavors. Nice shot Genie.
ReplyDeleteRandy -- It is hard to eat a dozen but it can be done and it's fun trying. Actually I like to take one bite out of 4 or 5 and save the rest in the refrigerator. You don't eat too many and no one else wants one with a bite taken - hah!
ReplyDeleteRe your response to Randy: I like the way you think, Genie!
ReplyDeleteI can never pass them up either! Pistache is my favorite :-)
ReplyDeleteAppetizing reflection ! I'll take several "caramel beurre salé", I love the sweet and salt mix...
ReplyDeleteAlexa -- Yes, I can't believe that someone would do that. Moi? It is hard to compare flavors unless you try them side-by-side.
ReplyDeleteSara Louise -- Pistache with a vanilla/Nutella buttercream does it for me, too.
Tsuki -- The ones in the window do look tempting and I am a big fam of caramel au beurre salé tarts. Thank you for visiting and leaving a comment.
They look great and so colorful. I ate Waaaaaaaay too many macarons at Ladurée last year and the thought of eating another made me ill until now. :) This is a reminder that moderation is key.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you participated in Weekend Reflections.
James -- Thank you for inviting me. Yes, it is possible to OD on macarons, but it is hard to resist!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I am not a macaron person. I bought a dozen last November on the Champs Elysees from the well known place but …I am more a “bouchée” person. I like the ones called “palais”.
ReplyDeletethese look simply delectable -- and the colors are too much!!
ReplyDeleteVagabonde -- Can you explain "bouchee and palais?" I am thinking that you mean "savory" tastes? I need to be educated in this. Merci!
ReplyDeleteAmanda -- I am already plotting my path for the next trip to Paris. How many macarons can I eat each day and still fit into my clothes?! Hah!
Too funny Genie :)
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for letting me know
merci
