By habit, a health-conscious breakfast eater it only takes me a nano-second to get into Paris mode with café au lait, pain au chocolat, pain au chocolat....
Did I mention.... pain au chocolat? (Oh, and I know that a Parisian would not have one of these for le p'tit déjeuner)
Have a great weekend, all!
Oui, j'en veux {and je veux one of those lovely cups, too. In pale pink or aqua, please.} It's so funny that 'pain' in French is just about the opposite of 'pain' in English.
ReplyDeleteOh who cares?! You're in Paris!!! Have lots and lots of croissants for those of us who aren't
ReplyDeleteMy husband has a pain au chocolate every morning :-)
ReplyDeleteOh Genie where or where was this? I love the yellow cups and the basket brimming with my Paris weaknesses. Bon weekend to you mon amie!

Love this scene! At least we can rest assured that a breakfast like this can only be savored in Paris. Seriously, where in the states can we enjoy pain au chocolat?
ReplyDeleteThese baguettes made my mouth water. Nothing like the french ones. Lovely composition!
ReplyDeleteOddly, pain au chocolat only tastes good when I eat it in Paris.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely table.
Pain au chocolat is exactly what I have, each and every morning, when in Paris - usually accompanied by hot tea.
ReplyDeleteThe closest thing to it in the states is a chocolate croissant from Au Bon Pain.
Shell -- It's funny how special it is when seen in retrospect. Le petit dejeuner with a cafe in these cups was parfait!
ReplyDeleteBrittany -- I love everything in that basket and it took a great amount of restraint not to eat
them all!
Sara Louise -- Yay for The Husband! I think that someone told me that French people did not eat the chocolate items for breakfast. Glad that he does -- I bet Honey Jr does too - hah!
Virginia, this was at the hotel for breakfast and the fresh juice was wonderful, too!
Rob -- I have mastered les macarons but have not attempted the pain au chocolat. Stay tuned...
JM -- Merci! I think the composition takes care of itself when the bread is so perfect.
Hiker -- I did not eat my share of chocolate on my trip in June, but will make it up on my next one!
Harriet -- I will remember Au Bon Pain when I get another craving! Merci!
your pain au chocolate looks really scrummy!! and I love that beautiful cup and saucer tres elegant!!

What Shell said! My work colleague gets a pain au chocolat as her weekly Friday breakfast treat—and I just can't bring myself to tell her that unless you consume it in Paris it probably isn't worth the calories.
ReplyDeleteDianne and Alexa -- Indeed, an elegant cup! As much as I enjoy pain au chocolat, I would never expend the calories to eat one in the US. I would consider having one anywhere in France.
ReplyDeleteMiam, Miam ... it was a delicieux p'tit dejeuner. Le yogourt était trop savoureuse, aussi! Quel dommage que nous n'avons pas d'accès quotidien --- but much better for the diet that we don't.
ReplyDeleteM, C'est vrai!
