As you exit Métro Abbesses onto Place des Abbesses you are greeted by this colorful carousel. It has a canopy painted with children's faces and some unusual vehicles to ride like a Scooby Doo bus, a pirate's ship, and a pink pumpkin carriage.
On a beautiful day this June the carousel was in high demand, the protective plastic curtains pulled back for full viewing.
I want to ride in th Scooby Doo Bus! I want to ride in th Scooby Doo Bus! I want to ride in th Scooby Doo Bus! I want to ride in th Scooby Doo Bus! I want to ride in th Scooby Doo Bus! I want to ride in th Scooby Doo Bus!

You knew this would get us all excited, didn't you?

ReplyDeleteBrilliant pix as usual Genie. Makes me reminds myself another visit to Paris is long overdue!
ReplyDeletePut me down for the pink pumpkin, please. {You expected that, didn't you, Genie.}
ReplyDeleteOh, what fun! How darling! XX!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's got curtains!
ReplyDeleteI love carousels. And Abbesses is just about my favorite metro stop. Hike up the stairs and see the cool artwork. Quite a climb, but worth it.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I think I want to ride several times so I can try out the Scooby Doo bus and the pink pumpkin and .....
ReplyDeleteLove all the carousels and seeing them again is incentive to try to take Jack when he is still young enough to enjoy them!
To all -- I am buying un carnet so that you can all ride until you are dizzy! Share and be nice (Keith, I am talking to you!)
ReplyDeleteStarman -- Take some photos of carousels while you are in Germany.
Gringo -- Thanks for coming by today. Good to see you again!
Brittany -- They close the sheer curtains when it is cool weather or a bit rainy. It continues to run longer than many of the carousels in Paris as a result. I am not sure if it is up and running in the dead of winter however....
Bibi -- I have been up the stairs at this Métro to see the artwork and have taken photos. It seems as you go round and round that it is neverending!
Holly -- Let's go! Get him a passport -- en mai peut-être?
ReplyDeleteBises,
YY
Eat your Wheaties before taking this Metro exit -- never ending climb up the steps!! But it was worth it. Lovely shot, Genie. I really like the way you caught the couple just sitting on the edge of the caroussel talking.
ReplyDeleteI'm not commenting on the hike up the Metro stairs.
ReplyDeleteI would like to share the pink princess pumpkin with my friend Shell svp! ;) Keith, we ran into the likes of you at the carrousel near la Tour last summer. A little chap refused to share the cute red airplane ( that said le Petit Prince) with my grandson ( who IS le Petit Prince in our family). The owner had to take charge and plopped Davis right down behind him! IT was hilarious. The kid pouted the whole ride.

M -- Ah oui, the neverending circular stairs. I had a good shot of the couple but he had his finger too close to his nose if you know what I mean - hah!
ReplyDeleteVirginia -- I think that there are two petite seats in the pink pumpkin, certainly enough room for my two petite princesses, n'est-ce pas?
There are 23 carousels listed for Paris and that does not include the neighboring areas. I will be on a mission to ride or at least photograph each of them...
Hummmmm, yet another reason to return!
What a cute carousel. I love them.
ReplyDeleteI know I got here a bit late, but I must share the pink pumpkin with Shell and Virginia! (insert major whining here) I'll just put one of them on my lap. I too love this carrousel, but there's a nice bar on the corner near the Abbesses stop—and that's where I went to restore myself with a DIY lemonade after my last hike up the stairs.
ReplyDeleteNo kids on the carousel but lots in the comments section!? lol
ReplyDeleteI'll just go sit in the bar and wave at y'all!!!
ReplyDeleteLoree -- I think so, too. Each carousel that I have seen in Paris is different!
ReplyDeleteAlexa -- I may just rent the carousel for the afternoon when we all get there. After getting dizzy riding, we'll duck into the bar with friends!
Paul -- Lots of kids today. Bring Karin and join us!
Chieftess -- I'll have a sidewalk table reserved for all the non-riders! Thanks for following my blog, friend of Virginia!
ReplyDeleteI think a merry go round, especially this one, might be the only piece of "whirling" equipment that doesn't make me sick. It looks like so much fun.
ReplyDeletePaula -- Well, come on as I have enough tickets for everyone! You can even have a turn in the pink princess pumpkin if you like!
