Rue du Bac

Rue du Bac

While his maman was shopping in the store
this petit enfant was captivated by the
display of Eiffel Towers.

I was wondering how to get this
item into an overhead bin
for the trip home...

Place Saint Sulpice

This large fountain sits just in front of the
massive entrance of Église Saint Sulpice

On any day of the week, you will see
people gathered in this square
just a few blocks from Jardin du Luxembourg.

Le Marché Couvert Saint Quentin

Le Marché Couvert Saint Quentin

This is a local, neighborhood market.
The fish and other seafood are fresh, and
the merchant has a busy day
serving his patrons with little time to stage the display.

Wish that I was having some oysters tonight.

Il pleut un peu?

The rain in Paris
brings out the stalker in me.

I had to chase down this gentleman
with his striped jacket, two-toned gloves, orange scarf,
knee-high boots over skinny jeans,
and the colorful (orange and black) parapluie!

Rue Mouffetard

If you are in Paris on any Sunday morning,
stop by and watch the dancers, and join in
the singing and dancing.

(Off to Argentina -
perhaps I will brush up on my Tango)

Jardin des Tuileries

Jardin des Tuileries

It is impossible to visit Paris
without sitting in one of the green chairs around a park fountain.

Sometimes you have to bundle up a bit
if there is a chill in the air.

Église Saint-Laurent

Église Saint-Laurent

I discovered this large neo-Gothic church
through a blog-friend who I was able to meet
face-to-face.  Cynthia's beautiful and informative post

Like many of the churches in Paris
(and in all of Europe), Saint-Laurent saw many additions
and revisions over several centuries.

Rue de Rivoli - la petite

Rue de Rivoli

After a long afternoon at Jardin des Tuileries,
this little one held the hand of her maman
as the family walked  toward home.

Must be a French girl

Parc de Monceau - le carrousel

Parc de Monceau

On a brisk October day,
families enjoy the warmth of the sun
while the children play.

This is a beautiful neighborhood park
with a wide path for strollers, scooters,
and joggers.

This little shop on rue Ledru Rollin
features furniture, toys, clothing and accessories for
children.

How would you like to take home
a child-sized café chair?

Le Marché Couvert Saint Quentin

Le Marché Couvert Saint Quentin

One of the oldest covered market in Paris
features Baltard style glass and ironwork with high ceilings
and an expanse of windows.

These architectural details permit
much natural light and great ventilation.

Église Saint-Roch

Église Saint Roch

This late Baroque church is filled with art,
stunning architecture, a storied past, and
three magnificent organs.

The Marquis de Sade was married (!) here in 1763,
and Yves Saint Laurent's funeral brought over 1,000 people
 to this church in 2008.

My friend Peter Olsen (Peter's Paris blog) provided
many interesting photos and facts which you can find here.

Chez Gladines - cuisine Basque à Paris

Chez Gladines

This charming bistrot serves reasonably-priced Basque cuisine.
I first "discovered" Chez Gladines, the original restaurant,
on rue des Cinq Diamants in the 13ème.  The food is simple, but delicious.
Be sure to select a dessert while I whisper in your ear....
(crème caramel -or- mi-cuit au chocolat et Piment d'Espelette ).

This lively scene is on Boulevard Saint Germain and
the warm September evening filled all the tables,
 inside and on the terrace.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Shelter

Jardin des Tuileries

The shared umbrella was scant shelter
in this October deluge.
The trees provided a bit of shelter
but the downpour drenched us all that day!

The theme for this first day of October is SHELTER.
